Module 2 Communication

Communication has came along way. There was a time, if you wanted to talk to someone you had to go see them or pick up a phone to call them. Today we can talk with people all around the world because of the internent. With tools like Facebook, Chatrooms like Yahoo, and Skype you can talk with people about any thing. There are smart phones and iPads that allow us to text, call, or get on the web just so we can blog, tweet, or get on facebook to up date what going on in our lives. With these things and email it is hard to tell someone I just can not get in touch with you. There are to many ways for communication can take place.

  1. Michelle, do you ever think that there is too much communication? I remember when I was a young teen my girlfriend and I would head out walking or on our bikes, to a shopping area that was several miles away. We had no need to call home frequently; if there were an emergency that was what pay phones were for. (We always carried change for that purpose.) Now nothing is sacred, every comment, picture, action is Tweeted, put on FaceBook, or otherwise put out there for the world to see. Sometimes I feel it's too much.

  2. Michelle,

It is so true, and I can't help it. I rarely go anywhere without either my smartphone, iPad or both. I have not seen a pay phone is a very long time, and the last one I did try to use was broken.

  4. Don't you hate that it seems like we no longer have the excuse "I tried but I just couldn't reach you". I have a love hate relationship with all of this new technology.

  5. I agree we do have too much communication. Some of the implications for this are starting to be seen in our students. They are addicted to the technology and often only communicate through non face to face means. What that means for the future I am not yet sure but there should be some research done to determine what can be done to make sure the digital age doesn't hurt the mental and social help of our youth.
